Omega Speedmaster 25mm Moonwatch Co-Axial Chronograph Dark Side Of The Moon 311.92.44.51.01.005 The Omega Speedmaster 311.92.44.51.01.005, famously known as the “Black Black,” is the most “stealth” iteration in the Dark Side of the Moon collection. While other models in the series use contrasting colors or lunar textures, the Black Black embraces a total monochromatic aesthetic. Every element—the 44.25mm polished and brushed ceramic case, the matte black ceramic dial, the ceramic bezel, and even the hands and applied indexes—is deep black. To maintain legibility in the dark, Omega utilized a specific black Super-LumiNova that glows green, allowing the watch to remain functional despite its “murdered-out” appearance. At its heart beats the Calibre 9300, Omega’s first in-house Co-Axial chronograph movement. This automatic engine features a column-wheel mechanism and a silicon balance spring, visible through the sapphire crystal exhibition caseback. The watch is paired with a black-coated nylon fabric strap with a dedicated black ceramic foldover clasp. Designed for those who appreciate architectural minimalism and high-tech materials, the Black Black is a masterclass in textures, using varying finishes of ceramic to create depth within a single color. Tonal Contrast: While everything is black, the watch remains readable due to the play of light between the matte dial and the polished/brushed surfaces of the hands and markers. The tachymeter scale on the bezel is also finished in black lacquer, barely visible until it catches the light. Black Lume: This was one of the first major applications of black Super-LumiNova. In daylight, it looks like a solid black inlay, but it provides a surprisingly clear green glow in total darkness. Calibre 9300 Performance. Two-Register Layout: The dial features only two sub-dials. The right-hand sub-dial at 3 o’clock combines both the 60-minute and 12-hour counters, allowing for an intuitive reading of elapsed time similar to a primary clock face. Stability: The movement is a COSC-certified chronometer, utilizing a Si14 silicon balance spring to provide exceptional resistance to shocks and magnetic interference.
